A Birth Doula offers continuous practical, emotional and physical support before, during and after the birth of your baby. The Doula’s main priority is to ensure you feel supported, cared for and empowered throughout the birth as the emotional well being of the mother is paramount for how labour progresses.
There are many studies which show the benefit of having a Doula at your birth. Research shows that women who have the support of a Doula are less likely to have a Caesarean birth, less likely to use pain medication, have shorter labour and are also more likely to say that they had a positive birth experience.
My main role as a Doula is to support and empower women and their partners to have a positive birth experience no matter what direction the labour takes. Having someone that you have come to know and who will stay with you throughout the birth can make a huge difference in your birthing experience.
